The GGMD 4 Steps
How the movement multiplies

- 1
Step 1 · The Ignition Group
The first step is to be trained, along with other leaders. The Ignition Group is a group of four to six people, ideally all men or all women. Trainers may have multiple groups. In the Ignition Group, you will be brought through this guide and the first two books, Gospel Basics and Gospel Rooted (about two months of weekly meetings).
For more information on the training, see the videos on DiscipleShape.Life.

Step 2 · Launch a Discipleship Circle
Now that you and other leaders have been commissioned, you will start your own discipleship circle. You decide whether to do all assignments in-class or have your disciples do assignments at home and discuss them the next week. Walk through the GGMD series at a pace agreed upon by all members. Keep meeting monthly with your Ignition Group, and pray for those who might become leaders in the future.
Gospel Basics can also be used as one-on-one discipleship.

Step 3 · Keep Leading Your Circle
You will continue leading your circle, taking a break after every book. Leading well is mostly about people, not programs: lead by example, build trust, know each person well, and listen more than you talk. Help every member take part, and guide them to grow and obey what they learn. Keep your group a safe, grace-filled place, and handle conflict honestly and gently. Follow the weekly rhythm — open in prayer, read the covenant commitments together, do the lesson, and close in prayer.
For much more on leading your circle, read Becoming a Discipler, Leading with Wisdom, The Weekly Lesson Rhythm, and Our Covenant Commitments.

Step 4 · Send Out New Leaders
The Holy Spirit has been speaking to certain people in your circle, giving them the desire to start their own circle and lead people — and He has been showing you these leaders. They have seen your example, embraced the vision, and sensed God's call. As a general rule, leaders should complete the Gospel Leadership level before being sent out, though there may be times to send them sooner. In partnership with your pastor, commission them and send them out.
