Leading with Wisdom

Guidelines 9–16

People should be able to ask honest questions, admit mistakes, and discuss struggles without fearing humiliation. A safe group is not one without correction; it is one where truth is shared with love.

  • •Set clear expectations for respect, confidentiality, participation, and accountability.
  • •Never use someone's confession as a joke, illustration, or weapon.
  • •Avoid gossip — including carelessly shared prayer requests.
  • •Respond to mistakes with grace while still addressing harmful behavior.
  • •Don't pressure members to reveal details they're not ready to share.
  • •Address bullying, manipulation, and discrimination promptly.
  • •Serious pastoral, mental health, abuse, or safety concerns may need qualified help beyond the group.

Ephesians 4:15 — speak the truth in love.
