Welcome to Gospel Growing
Where the journey begins
Welcome to the Gospel Growing Missional Discipleship. This is a very simple framework for growing in Christ along with a small group of people — they will become your friends, mentors, and co-disciples.
Discipleship is vital to the life of a church. The church was created for God's mission — to redeem and restore humanity. As we live our lives following Christ, we have become disciples, falling more deeply in love with Christ, and learning from this God-man how to live for Him and how to die to our own selfish desires. When the Holy Spirit deems us ready, we in turn lead others along this path.
Too often Christians casually claim to follow Christ, but have never entered into the depths of Worship as a lifestyle, where Worship and Discipleship have become two sides of the very same coin.
As an illustration, we can look at our family. We honor our parents while at the same time learning from them. Both go hand-in-hand; we cannot have one without the other.
Yet to be serious disciples we need a pattern to follow. The pattern was laid down by Jesus and later by His followers.
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
Taking up our cross is more than bearing a burden — it is a sacrifice and a laying down of our very lives, something that we are very unwilling to do.
A faithful disciple will naturally become a discipler of others, and a discipler needs to first be a faithful disciple.
